Play: Eldorado

Belgrade, Serbia

Prostoria's outdoor collections Osmo and Jugo have found a new home on the theatrical stage, featuring prominently in the recent premiere of "Eldorado" at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre in Belgrade. The scenography, crafted by Ivana Jonke and Sven Jonke, integrates these versatile pieces into the production's visual narrative. This collaboration between Prostoria and the Yugoslav Drama Theatre demonstrates the versatility of these outdoor collections, showcasing their potential beyond traditional settings.

A Fusion of Design and Drama

Sven Jonke, one of the designers behind the Numen/For Use collective, played a dual role in this production. As both the co-designer of the Osmo and Jugo collections for Prostoria and the scenographer for "Eldorado," Jonke brought a unique perspective to the stage design.

The Osmo collection, known for its classic typology reminiscent of hotel and restaurant terrace chairs, provides an optimal balance of comfort and durability. Its steel structure creates a striking visual contrast that complements the theatrical setting.

Meanwhile, the Jugo outdoor collection evokes a sense of Mediterranean relaxation, perfectly aligning with the play's themes. Its rational, powder-coated stainless-steel construction juxtaposed against lavish cushions adds a touch of hedonistic charm to the stage.

Versatility in Performance

The adaptability of Prostoria's designs shines through in this theatrical application. The Jugo collection offers functional surfaces for props and set pieces. Similarly, the Osmo series' expressive geometry and biomorphic appearance contribute to the overall aesthetic of the production.

It's a testament to the enduring appeal and adaptability of Prostoria's designs, proving that well-crafted furniture can transcend its original purpose to become an integral part of artistic expression.

As "Eldorado" continues its run at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre, audiences will have the opportunity to experience not only a compelling theatrical performance but also the integration of Prostoria's design into the world of scenography.
